Sangisugi (2019)
A substantial part of reality is the environment - the social, natural and the overall context. Through capitalism, nihilism and the quest for technological utopianism, the environment is constantly changing. This work reinterprets this change into a new resulting reality and its possible consequence - the
dystopia.
Grounded on existentialist and ontological philosophy, this research questions the objective and subjective reality and its potential downfall. It explores the relationship between ‘being’ and ‘reality’ within a contemporary context. A substantial part of the reality that this research focuses on is the environment and how this is in a constant state of transition. This project seeks to render a possible resultant dystopian environment that emanates from excessive construction, pollution and human greed. The viewer is invited to reflect on the issues presented while feeling a sense of disparagement and repentance.
This project forms part of my research for the Master of Fine Arts in Digital Arts at the University of Malta.
