Ek(g)oċidju (2018)
Overpopulation is an issue that affects our wellbeing and more so is the over-construction that results from it. Growing up watching fields turn into high, dull concrete structures has affected the way I look at the surrounding environment - as if it’s there to be sacrificed. This has gotten worse throughout the years, as even historical architecture having cultural value is being sacrificed for this so-called progress. I could never understand the need to keep on destroying virgin land when there is so much empty housing in village and city cores. The worst thing about this situation is that everyone is indirectly contributing to it, even by doing nothing. We are destroying our origins - ourselves. This is what led to the concept of ‘Ek(g)oċidju’ a play on the words ‘ecocide’ and ‘egocide’.
