Appoggi (2023)
This project is a sequel to ‘Rooftops’. Appoġġi literally means ‘support’, but in construction it refers to the common wall between orifices. With the proliferation of buildings all over the islands, these walls are rising in height and are appearing everywhere - in town centres, adjacent to agricultural land and in village cores. They are in a state of lingering. These walls have a single purpose - that of supporting the next building in line. This work is a process of attempting to adjust and making peace with the abrupt environmental change that is taking place.
This work is a combination of painting and sculpture.
