Interventi (2021)

Interventi formed part of Identity of an Island, a multidisciplinary project held in May 2022 that explored and celebrated the cultural identity of Gozo through a contemporary art collective and an art-historical conference directed by Dr Mark Sagona.
Gozo is currently under threat from the construction boom that has conquered Malta. Unfortunately, this has been foreseen for several years but action has never been taken. Land that has existed for millions of years is being permanently transformed in a relatively short time. Interventions that are changing the aesthetic and spiritual value of the land forever. Traditional Gozitan villages are being robbed from their authenticity by the proliferation of cancerous concrete structures that are completely out of context. Protruding edifices are replacing traditional townhouses and historical buildings that have virtually no respect to their surroundings, and thus changing the townscape permanently.
